Duca has been running private day trips out of Lisbon since 2003. Porto and back in a day is a long one, and our driver-guides pace it carefully so you still have real time in the city rather than spending the whole day on the road.
Itinerary
We collect you from your hotel early in the morning for the drive north to Porto — about three hours on the motorway, with a stop along the way if you'd like one. Once in Porto, we start at the Serra do Pilar viewpoint in Gaia, across the river, for the best panorama over the Ribeira district and the Dom Luís bridge. Your guide then walks you through the historic center: the azulejo-tiled halls of São Bento station, the Sé Cathedral area, Rua das Flores and the Clérigos Tower. There's free time to wander on your own or have lunch, which isn't included. In the afternoon, a boat takes you under Porto's six bridges on the Douro — this short cruise runs with other passengers aboard, unlike the rest of the day, which is private to your group. We close in Vila Nova de Gaia with a port wine tasting in one of the traditional cellars built into the riverbank, before the drive back to Lisbon in the evening.

Porto's historic center is mostly seen on foot and from the outside — São Bento station's entrance hall, the Ribeira waterfront and the Clérigos Tower's exterior don't need a ticket. If you'd like to go inside somewhere specific, like the Clérigos Tower or the Sé Cathedral, tickets are inexpensive and you pay directly on site; we're happy to point you to them.
This is a long day by car — about three hours each way — so it suits travelers who are comfortable with that and want to see Porto without an overnight stay. Infants can't travel on laps; if you need an infant seat, tell us the ages when you book and we'll have one ready. The vehicle isn't set up for wheelchairs, strollers or pets.
We'll need your hotel name and street address to arrange pickup. If your hotel isn't listed but falls within Greater Lisbon, just tell us after booking — there's no extra charge for the pickup.
