Duca has been running private tours out of Lisbon since 2003, Fátima included. Our driver-guides know the site well and how its rhythm changes around the big pilgrimage dates, so we can plan your visit — including where to park and when it's calmer — accordingly.
Itinerary
We collect you from your hotel in the Lisbon area at a time that suits you and drive north on the A1 motorway, about 1 hour and 15 minutes each way. Once at the Sanctuary of Fátima, you have the whole day free to take it at your own pace: the vast esplanade itself, the small Chapel of Apparitions built on the spot where Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta reported seeing the Virgin Mary in 1917, the neo-classical Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary with its colonnades and the tombs of the three shepherd children, and the modern underground Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, built for the site's larger pilgrimages. There's time for quiet reflection or prayer inside either basilica if you'd like it, and your driver-guide is on hand throughout to explain the history and answer questions. Lunch (not included) is your choice — there are several restaurants around the Sanctuary — and we set off back to Lisbon once you're ready, at whatever time works for you.

There's nothing to plan for at the Sanctuary itself — the esplanade, the Chapel of Apparitions and both basilicas are all free to enter, with no tickets involved at any point.
This tour runs at your own pace rather than a fixed schedule: departure time and how long you stay at the Sanctuary are worked out with you. Infants can't travel on laps; if you need an infant seat, tell us the ages when you book and we'll have one ready. The vehicle isn't wheelchair- or stroller-accessible, though the Sanctuary's esplanade itself is flat, paved and easy to get around once there.
We'll need your hotel name and street address to arrange pickup. If your hotel isn't listed but falls within Greater Lisbon, just tell us after booking — there's no extra charge for the pickup.
