Algarve Private Tour from Lisbon with Benagil Caves Boat Trip

A day tour from Lisbon down to the Algarve, with a private van and driver-guide, and a boat trip out to the Benagil sea caves. We pick you up at your hotel in the morning and head south for the coast — caves, cliffs, and a beach or two, depending on how you'd like to spend the afternoon.

The day centres on the boat trip out of Portimão marina to the Benagil caves. This boat trip runs on a shared boat, so you may be with other travelers for that part of the day; the van and driver-guide stay private to your group throughout. On departures at 7am there's also a short walk on the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail before the boat trip. Lunch isn't included, but we can point you to a restaurant along the way if you'd like to stop and eat. In the afternoon it's up to you — Lagos and Ponta da Piedade, Albufeira, more beach time, or a quieter drive back along the coast.

If a single day feels rushed, our 2-day Algarve tour covers the same coastline at a slower pace, with an overnight down south.

Boat trip from Portimão marina

Board your boat at Portimão marina for the trip to the Benagil sea caves. It's a shared boat, so you might be sharing it with other travelers — the van and driver-guide stay private to your group throughout the rest of the day. Timing depends on the day, morning or afternoon, and it can shift with the weather. The boat and crew operate under current maritime safety rules set by the local Capitania, with life jackets provided for everyone on board. Read the story behind this tour on our blog.

Your afternoon, your choice

Lagos, Albufeira, the beach, or the scenic route back

Round out the day however you like — a walk around Lagos and Ponta da Piedade, some time in lively Albufeira, more beach time, or a relaxed drive back to Lisbon along the coast. Whichever you choose — Lagos and Ponta da Piedade, Albufeira, a quiet beach afternoon, or the scenic coastal drive back — ask your driver-guide, they know the spots worth stopping for.

Please note

The boat trip to the Benagil caves runs on a shared boat and depends on sea conditions — it can be in the morning or the afternoon. Everything else on the day, including the van and driver-guide, is private to your group. The tour isn't wheelchair or stroller accessible, and we wouldn't recommend it if you have back problems or are pregnant. In the van, children travel in a proper child seat, provided on request — by law, they can't travel on your lap there. On the boat, where child seats aren't available, infants and young children do travel on your lap. It isn't suitable for guests bringing pets.
