A full day out of the Rota Vicentina and into the Algarve, combining two of the region's best experiences with a dedicated guide-interpreter and a vehicle that's just for your group. Pickup is anywhere along the Rota Vicentina, from Sines to Sagres, at no extra charge — tell us where you're staying and we'll be there. The day takes about 9 hours, and there's no fixed schedule to keep to — the pace is yours.
The first stop is the Seven Hanging Valleys trail, one of the most scenic coastal walks in Portugal — a route along golden limestone cliffs above hidden coves and sea arches. It's an easy walk, though there's little shade, so bring water and comfortable shoes.
From there, we drive to Portimão to board the boat trip into the Algar de Benagil, the sea cave famous for the circle of sky above its sandy floor. This part of the day runs as a shared excursion with other travelers, since that's how the boat operates locally — everything else stays private to your group. Afterwards, there's time to relax or have lunch at your own expense on the Algarve coast before the drive back north.

Frequently asked questions
Where do you pick us up?
Anywhere along the Rota Vicentina, from Sines to Sagres — hotels and private accommodation both work. Just give us your address when you book, and pickup doesn't cost extra.
How long does the tour take?
About 9 hours in total, covering both the cliff walk and the boat trip to the Benagil Sea Cave.
Is a guide with us for the whole day?
Yes — a dedicated guide-interpreter collects you from your accommodation and stays with you throughout, taking care of the logistics for both stops.
Is the boat trip to the Benagil Sea Cave private as well?
No, and we'd rather be upfront about it: the boat excursion into the cave is a shared trip with other travelers, since that's how it operates locally. Everything else that day — the transport and your guide-interpreter — is private, just for your group.
What's included in the price?
Private transportation in an air-conditioned vehicle, a dedicated guide-interpreter, bottled water, WiFi on board, the insurance required by the Portuguese Tourism Board, and the boat trip into the Benagil Sea Cave. Lunch and other meals aren't included.
Can we skip or reorder the hike or the boat trip?
Yes — both are flexible. If your group would rather spend more time on one and skip the other, or do them in a different order, just let your guide-interpreter know.
What is the Seven Hanging Valleys walk like?
It's a coastal trail along golden limestone cliffs above hidden coves and sea arches, part of the Rota Vicentina network. It's rated easy, but there's no shade and some uneven ground, so bring water and comfortable shoes.
Is lunch included?
No. There's time built into the day to stop for lunch at your own expense on the Algarve coast, between the walk and the boat trip.
Can you bring an infant seat?
No — infant seats aren't available on this tour, and infants can't travel on laps, so the minimum age is 2.
Is the tour wheelchair- or stroller-accessible?
No, it isn't. The vehicle isn't wheelchair- or stroller-accessible, and the cliff trail and cave access aren't suitable for wheelchairs or strollers either.
